A Newport tradition since 1959, folk artists from all over the world spend an August weekend in the Newport harbor vicinity playing to huge crowds, often under tents. The three-day festival is host to all types of folk, from local bluegrass to African folk and includes famous artists as well as up and coming groups. The festival has events scheduled throughout the weekend, with various tents where music lovers can purchase all types of ethnic food as well as local arts and crafts. Most of the performances are held at the Fort Adams State Park with acts playing on Saturday and Sunday. Performances are also held at the Newport Casino at the International Tennis Hall of Fame.
