Houston's resident ballet company is extremely respected in the international art community. Ben Stevenson, the Artistic Director, presents classical performances, as well as new contemporary works. If you call in advance, you might be able to snag wonderful seats at one of the more than 80 local performances. The Nutcracker is one of Houston's favorites and is performed annually. Buy your tickets very early for this event as the tickets sell like hot cakes.
