In the Piazza del Polpo, in Rapallo near the Medieval Castle, is the Hotel Europa, a modern, four star hotel which is located in the former residence of the Marquis Serra. On the ground floor of the building is the Il Trattato Restaurant, (named for the historic treaty of 1921), which has a sophisticated atmosphere and offers fine food with regional dishes and new, international tastes. There are large hollows in the walls where the most sought after tables are located. There is a sophisticated, professional atmosphere. There are traditional dishes as well as a range of ravioli with fish sauce and black risotto with cuttlefish. They also serve mixed grill, sword fish in an aubergine crust with tomato sauce and desserts such as Grand Marnier ice cream cake with raspberry sauce. Good wine list with Ligurian and national wines.
